However, challenges like gender bias, lack of funding, and self-doubt still hold them back. 
The Beauty industry is female dominated. 
However the informality of the sector makes it hard to remain in it for a long time. 
Despite having the odds stacked against her former full-time journalist Lillian Nkosi decided to jump into the industry.
Now her local business Forbes Goddess is an award-nominated small business.
